“Questo breve saggio descrive alcuni esempi concreti che legano arte, suono e cibo partendo da una prospettiva scientifica e soffermandosi su livelli differenti: ricerca, performance art, sound art. Attraverso il confronto tra la gastronomia molecolare e la sperimentazione musicale digitale, e a partire dalle connessioni tra suono, cibo e nuovi media come una modalità inedita di ri-design e ri-mediazione dell’identità del territorio rurale (Click’n’Food – Interferenze new arts festival), questo contributo analizza come la conoscenza delle relazioni tra cibo e suono possa fornire informazioni importanti ai processi sensoriali legati al gusto, offrendo un livello più profondo di comprensione in relazione alla produzione ed alla ‘manifattura’ dei cibi e, soprattutto, un’esperienza sinestetica più consapevole…”

Il saggio è incluso in una pubblicazione che contiene gli atti del programma di conferenze di ISEA 2011, organizzato nel corso del diciassettesimo simposio internazionale di arti elettroniche tenutosi ad Istanbul dal 14 al 21 settembre 2011.
Di seguito, un breve estratto dall’introduzione al volume scritta da Lanfranco Aceti, conference chair e direttore artistico di ISEA 2011:
“There are many different contradictions in the increasingly busy lives of contemporary academics – both emerging and more established. The pressure of ‘publish or perish’ within the context of contemporary social media and digital platforms has increased with the necessity of responding to an online digital existence that announces and precedes the event itself.
For ISEA2011 Istanbul we tried to focus on several aspects: the immediate availability of the papers online that would provide the authors with visibility, the possibility of having selected papers from the proceedings published with the Leonardo Electronic Almanac with an ISSN; the opportunity of having Goldsmiths College and Sabanci University acting as gatekeepers of academic quality by providing a further eviewing process through the allocation of the ISBN; the permanent presence of the papers – as permanent it can be in an online environment characterized by fluidity and impermanence –through the allocation of single DOIs for each selected paper, thanks to the extra work and support of Sabanci University Information Center’s staff.”
