FARM is a project that aims at exploring patterns, tools and new languages for the development of cultural wealth, and productive environment in rural areas.

The perspective offered by FARM is not focused exclusively on the concept of territorial development, but also binds to the critical analysis of the economy, culture and society in the rural areas, in order to identify suitable, innovative and sustainable ways able to integrate the potentiality and the resources of these territories in the flow of contemporary life.

FARM is both an event, a residence, a laboratory and a documentary film. It is a platform articulated on different levels on which is possible to discuss, analyze and make assumptions in order to re-draw and communicate the Partenio territory according to innovative logics.

Artists participating to residency have focused on two main themes: the disused brimstone mines in the towns of Altavilla Iripina and Tufo and the Greco di Tufo DOCG, one of the most recognized wine on an international scale. The territory comprehensive of 8 towns in the production area of this wine (Altavilla Irpina, Chianche, Montefusco, Petruro Irpino, Prata di Principato Ultra, Santa Paolina, Torrioni, Tufo) has become the exploring area of this residency.

In this places, the concept of boundary is visible through human, economical and labour histories that link together the surface and the underground world. The mines and its factories, the wineyards and the cellars dug into the rock. The abandoned mines mark the waning of an economic and social season and coexists with the lives of the wineyards which represents the possibility of rebirth of the area.
