This exhibition deals with a series of practices developed in the Abruzzo region, Southern Italy, from 1990s to present time and which created a bridge with different international experiences. The curatorial process on which “A Constellation of Moments” is based upon can be described as a set of interactions that include essays, conversations, discussions and meetings, constituting an ever-changing dynamic context.
This journey gives birth to an exhibition built upon a body of links and relations, and developed upon bonds, places, artists and other connections and imaginary and physical spaces of this land, generated by what Brandon LaBelle defines the “associative” nature of sound.
The whole body of work is presented in a diachronic perspective and divided into a series of ‘moments’. These fragments and trajectories live within a narrative tangle and find resonance around two focal elements: sound arts and the Abruzzo territory, the geographical space on which the research of a group of artists, active between the 1990s and the present day, insists.
In this context of space and time, though in different decades and places, Lorenzo Balloni, Gaetano Cappella, Vincenzo Core, Giustino Di Gregorio, Andrea Gabriele, Marco Marzuoli, Fabio Perletta and Tu M’ represent the knots of a constellation of sound practices which reveals itself in the multiplicity of aesthetic and conceptual approaches within the rooms of the Museolaboratorio, but also in the multitude of interactions, discussions and debates through which the entire project was brought to life.
